John Belle and Amy Greene, Ride for the River Founders
Ride for clean water!
Motorcyclists looking to support a great cause are invited to join Ride for the River, benefiting the local conservation nonprofit Raritan Headwaters Association (RHA). The 60-mile ride takes bikers on a scenic tour of rural backroads in New Jersey’s Upper Raritan River watershed across Hunterdon, Somerset, and Morris counties. The country roads featured on the ride include many that parallel or cross iconic rivers and streams.
The 2026 Ride for the River is a solo run that can be completed between April 22nd, Earth Day, and July 21st. The goal during these 90 days is to raise $10,000 to support Raritan Headwaters Association’s work to protect the health of the Upper Raritan watershed, its open spaces, rivers, streams, and critical drinking water resources. It’s a fun, leisurely ride that showcases the beauty of the watershed and the rivers and streams the Association works to protect.
John Belle and Amy Greene, devoted environmentalists, created the Ride for the River in 2003. Over the past 22 years, Ride for the River has raised more than $230,000 to help protect land and water quality in this special part of New Jersey. John’s legacy lives on through the Ride for the River. RHA is incredibly grateful to John and Amy for sharing their passion and dedication with us.
