Land preservation is an important strategy for protecting the natural environment and its many resources. The land provides essential services, such as watershed protection and water supply, carbon storage, and wildlife habitats, as well as acting as a buffer in the event of natural disasters, such as floods and drought. Communities can benefit from the economic and recreational opportunities that open space provides. Landowners, governments, and non-profit organizations all have a role to play in preserving land and its invaluable ecosystem services.
This series of talks will provide us with valuable insights into how land preservation initiatives have been successfully implemented in the past. It will also shed light on current initiatives and the people who are working hard to conserve treasured natural areas, unique places, special recreational resources, and important historic sites. These efforts are essential for sustaining our environment and communities, as well as preserving these resources for future generations.
