Two RHA staff directors, Lauren Theis and Cindy Ehrenclou, have been honored with awards for their contributions to conservation and the environment. Both awards are well deserved!
Lauren, our education director, was given the Elizabeth Abernathy Hull Award by the Garden Club of America. This award is given annually to an individual who provides outstanding environmental education for children.
Lauren was recognized for creating innovative youth programs that inspire an appreciation for the beauty and fragility of our planet. Over the past 16 years, she has engaged thousands of children in outdoor learning experiences that connect them to nature through nature camps, school ecology programs and field trips, year-round nature programs for families and children, and her work with inner-city youths attending the Greater Newark LifeCamp.
Lauren has truly fostered a generation of motivated and passionate environmentalists and continues to provide education that empowers young people with the knowledge and tools to become environmental advocates and stewards where they live.
Cindy, Senior Development Director received the Founders Award by the New Jersey League of Conservation Voters (NJLCV).
Cindy was given the award in recognition of her dedication to educating New Jersey residents, voters and policymakers about important environmental issues facing the state. She served as chair of the NJLCV’s Education Fund for 10 years, stepping down at the end of 2023.
Cindy believes that raising awareness about critical environmental issues and providing policymakers with sound, objective and accurate information is the best path to safeguarding our natural environment.
Congratulations to Lauren and Cindy!
