Watershed planning for municipalities: control stormwater, improve water quality and save money
April 15, 2021
Watershed restoration and protection plans identify sources of pollution and provide recommendations to reduce pollution in rivers, streams, lakes and ponds. The Plan addresses nutrient inputs that enter waterbodies through stormwater, which contributes to harmful algal blooms (HABs), bacteria and other pollutants. Learn about the components of a watershed protection plan including green infrastructure, why the plan is beneficial to your municipality, and funding sources to develop and implement the Plan. Ultimately, controlling stormwater and improving water quality will benefit residents and local businesses that rely on clean water as a drinking water source, recreation, and revenue.
